Top 5 Weird Vacation Destinations

1. Island of the Dolls

The perfect mix of thrills and curiosity, this grim, weird, hair-raising freaky place is a one of a kind tourist attraction. This small island lies not far from Mexico City, bearing quite a load of forbidding and ghastly dolls hanging all over trees and buildings, and sitting on dark corners and nooks. The first doll originated from Don Julian Santana, a man who found a little girl who drowned floating in a canal, followed by a doll floating adrift. He hung the doll in reverence to the girl’s spirit. Then he hung one more doll, then put another in place, kept on until he got obsessed and got crazy, adding more and more anywhere he could, day or night. Then one day, he is found dead. He mysteriously ends up drowning in the same canal. His family turned the island into a tourist spot where many have reportedly seen and experienced unnatural appearances and events.

2. Anwick Poison Garden

Many are amused with the healing power plants possess and the whimsical life they have, but the Duchess of Northumberland sees them differently. She is enticed by plants which have the capability to kill, and how it is done in an awful, painful and horrid way. She created a garden filled with more than a hundred of these killers, some as dangerous as killing by the slightest touch. Situated inside a gothic castle which supplied as a stand-in in the Harry Potter movie, it is now open to the public and welcomes kids of any age.

3. Karni Mata Temple

Oh rats… and tons of them! A temple in the town of Deshnoke in India where people pay homage to the C14th mystic believed as the reincarnation of Durga, the goddess regarded as the mother of the universe, has been infested with rats over the years. Strangely, the people believe they are sacred and must be brought no harm, letting them crawl about, creating tunnels and feeding an estimated 20,000 of these creatures. Now people travel from all around the globe to see these rats for themselves.

4. Izu Islands

This is one vacation where you’ll be needing a gas mask. Japan’s Izu Islands is comprised of a clusters of volcanic isles which have erupted numerous times, with the last explosion recorded 10 years ago. In this island, harmful gases consistently leaks from the ground which are somewhat remotely poisonous, and has a very unpleasant smell. A lush landscape can also be viewed here and people are allowed to visit only once they put on a gas mask as required by law.

5. Gnome Countryside

Go camping and hiking in an entire landscape permeated with gnomes. Located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, you will be welcomed by the founder and owner Rich Humphreys, who’ll take you into the interesting world of the enchanting history, folklore and habits of these little people. He believes that these bearded dwarfish creatures actually existed and suprisingly, he even looks quite one, and is allegedly married to a gnome!
